I am sitting here, ruminating the other day news that with the permission of the voters, America has decided again to hire the strongest man in the world.
This election, like every other elections we've witnessed elsewhere, wasn't about Kamala Harris, though she was a candidate. It was all about what was all wrong with our political climate. It was all what we could lose as a civilised world; the gains we've labored for dozens of years risked being reversed; and already we've conceded some of our basest virtues.
Unfortunately, the DTs of this world, even when they unblinkingly declare the worst of what they could do, they still get away with it. Impeached twice. Indicted of dozens of crimes. Tested and proven liar. I mean they circumvent every trap set against them. The "democratic mob" everywhere else you could think of love illusions. They love the opposite of what we the remnants of civilization stands for.
Not far, I penned women posts only; and in this American election, I think, I return again as an avid third party and perhaps because of her for what she represents and against what we've found ourselves at the heart of the same things we don't want.
In an election, in a charged political climate where everything is up for stake including even our own dignity. A world that teeters on an ongoing nightmare of authoritarianism; talk of Putin, of Viktor Orbán, of Xi Jinping. The jailers are springing up everywhere. A world that warms and cozys up to the denigraters of what's left of our humanity. It was an uphill task for Kamala Harris to breeze through an election that had seemingly crucified her for what she was not.
Kamala may not have won today but history will always remember her as a lifelong winner in an almost unfamiliar territory. She rose to the highest American pinnacle against her tainted gender and ethnicity that had become the loci of an election and oiled her campaign not on empty incendiary rhetorics; not on divisive language. Not any time did she used her podium to denigrate, chest thump, negate them. She fought for what's all right for every one across the political spectrum.
Throughout her campaign, her message of unity and economic prosperity radiated from her pretty eyes, big wide sparkling smile. You could see her supporters warm up and fuzzy like a suckling calf with her curling tail telling it all. Critics can have a field day to banish and talk of anti-Trump enthusiasm but alot of it springs from genuine enthusiasm for Kamala. Who would resist all the love from a mother?
She doesn't belong to America alone. Harris is an incredible women who hail from a family of modest means. Like anyone else who has struggled her way up, she represents the aspirations of not only Americans but also us here who care for the welfare of others. When I pour my heart out for her, I talk of stories like hers transcending barbaric norms and masculine world.
Political institutions are as good as the stewards of the country. Those very institutions mean nothing if they are at the mercy of individuals. They stand on the precipice of personal cult where every nook and cranny of the country is built on their image.
Thank you Kamala Harris for shining light on humanity with your hearty campaign.
Thank you, Edwin. Sadly we live in a country full of small men that are afraid of a strong and intelligent woman. They were living among us but under the rocks they hid under during the Civil Rights movement. DT allowed and encouraged them to come back into the light. I am afraid for all women and all of the hard won rights we have fought for over the last 100 years. I fear DT and those that support him and the Project 2025 agenda will strip away those rights and freedoms and the US will be another autocratic government that holds women down and people of color that don’t serve those in power’s pockets. I am heartbroken for what I fear the US will become and the impact on the world.
Thank you for thinking of us and recognizing the potential we had with Kamala.
Well said, Edwin. Many of us here mourn the loss of our chance for a better world.
